Pivot Lock

PIVOT LOCK IN CASING

The Pivot lock has gears on each end which (in the picture on the left) stay locked to the orange casing. This allows the handle and pivot lock to rotate with respect to the handle.

When the pivot lock is pressed, the gear becomes disengaged and do not mesh, so there the handle can pivot. When the pivot lock is not pressed, the gears engage and the handle becomes locked in place.

Screwdriver Switch

The switch operates with two metal strips that rotate around the electric motor terminals. When the switch is rotated clockwise, the motor spins clockwise. When the switch is rotated counter-clockwise, the motor spins the counter-clockwise. This is because the positive and negative terminals from the battery are being swapped back and forth between the terminals on the motor (as shown in the sketch to the right).

The screwdriver locking ring seizes the gears from rotating if the user chooses to hand tighten or loosen a screw. It works by sliding a gear up in between the ring gear and the planetary carrier gear to lock and slides down to unlock.
